Didn't see a thread for this....anyone see it, or planning to?
I checked it out over the weekend and it was very impressive - heck my wife even got into it big time.
Tony Scott's directing style seems to be love-it-or-hate-it to me, and he utilizes the dreaded camera shake again, but the technology that's a large part of the plot at least gives it plausibility.
The sequence where Carlin drives with the helmet on was amazing.
Denzel does his thing like he usually does (I'm a big fan of Man on Fire, which led to me going to see Deja Vu). Bruce Greenwood, Adam Goldberg, and Val Kilmer were all excellent, and Jim Caviezel was chillingly memorable in his small part.
I'd also like to point out that Paula Patton is gorgeous.
The whole time travel thing was done well but I was hoping for more of a surreal ending - even more so than what we got. I've been slightly interested in branching universe theory for a while, and the way it was handled was very cool. It explained just enough while leaving a lot open for interpretation, but didn't get too freakin weird.
Anyways, an off-center thriller with some inventive camera work, good acting, and thought-provoking subject matter that made for a memorable time at the theater.
Hoping for some nice extras when the DVD hits.
