Mutant Storm yeah. But Geometry Wars sold a ton of copies. I think Mutant Storm was too similar to other games on the service (like Geometry Wars even) to get much looks...I really like it though. A vertical shooter with lots of bullets would be a welcome addition. I'm not sure why there hasn't even been one single one yet. I mean it was a huge chunk of arcade gaming and is still one of the few around that has lasted so long.

Think of a captured enemy like the shikigami attack and it kind of fits if you squint real hard. Also kind of like Space Bomber. Looks better than both.

I've played Exelica a number of times and it doesn't play much like Guwange at all. You can block bullets and convert them to points, but its got a very different pace and scoring style. If anything, it's as similar to Guwange as it is to ESPrade and Progear. Even really huge enemies can be captured, but it can take a while for the capture bar to fill, plus the discus-throw move takes some practice.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it great, but it has interesting play mechanics and I can see a number of people here enjoying it. It gets a lot of play at the arcades, at any rate.

Radirgy is good, but it's coming to the GC in the US for cheaps. Trizeal is alright, especially if you like Raiden/Shienryu style shooters, but IMO not worth dropping $60 on. You're better off skipping Chaos Field, but it's cheap on the GC in the US if you're curious.

Border Down took awhile to grasp, but after reading up about the break laser and watching some videos it revealed itself to me to be one phenomenal game. The implementation of the different "borders" is fucking stellar!

Under Defeat is awesome, awesome, awesome! nuf said.

Trizeal and Radilgy rule because they’re both unique unto themselves. And Radilgy's got tons of gameplay to uncover - between aggressive shield usage to the sword swipe, and the absorption barrier, and collecting ground items there is tons to learn and grasp. Plus the graphic style and presentation is unlike any other shooter I know of - always a pleasure to play.

Trigger Heart Exelica looks likely to fit in brilliantly with one of the best shmup lineups on any console. Dreamcast kicks ass!
