oh ho, sick burn :tu:
seriously, tapping in the 2nd round after having a bjj clinic put on you is "tapping quick"?

There's no shame in being beaten by Penn, especially at 155. He's an amazing fighter, and if he's serious about his cardio now (which I am not in any way sold on) he is maybe the best 170 lbs. fighter on the planet, and his natural weight class is 155. Pulver is a small 155, so him getting flattened was pretty much a foregone conclusion.
Pulver is not going to be mistaken for the best fighter in the world, but he is still pretty damn good. He has great hands and really good wrestling. Anyone interested in a sprawl and brawl style could learn a lot from Pulver and I would imagine all non-elite MMA fighters (which is the vast majority) could learn a good bit from him about the overall game.
Also he seemed like a pretty good coach on TUF.
Me and my buddies have been trying to think of gimmicks for TUF. How cool would it be if they had a bunch of established fighters (or even champs!) in the house for a season?
One of the "problems" with the PPVs is that TUF guys are a lot more familiar to casual fans (and casual fans make a sport). Quinton (yeah, I know he wasn't a TUF) was an underdog to Chuck (seriously, wtf?). And lots of TUF guys are more recognized by newer MMA fans than guys like Noguiera or even Mirco.
Hence, the coolness factor of having a TUF house full of proven fighters that could gain some name recognition in American households.
What does TNL say?
that was pretty boring...
the anderson silva and the kenny florian fights were good. ortiz, noguiera, and sherk were all pretty one sided... with their oppenets getting in one or two near fight ending shots.
This fight card was stacked but as Sedition pointed out, it was boring. I agree that Silva-Marquardt and Florian fights were good. Too bad we did not see Lytle's fight since he finished it with a nice submission. On to 74 I guess.
Also, Sherk vs Penn in November.
Tito's record is less than stellar when he's not fighting broken-down old men. Maybe he should beg Ken to do Ortiz/Shamrock 4 at the next PPV.
I agree with you but I still think he won that fight even with the point deduction. Evans didn't do shit the whole fight besides the last 30 seconds of round 3.
If you haven't seen it already check out the videos on ufc.com of the post fight where Tito is at the podium. Evans starts talking shit to Tito like he gave Tito an all night ass kicking.
I thought the fight was close to being called after Herring dropped Minotauro with that kick. Had the roles been reversed, I wouldn't have been surprised for the fight to have been stopped in Nogueira's favor. It was a very similar situation to when Herb Dean stood up Cro Cop and Gonzaga after Gonzaga was on the verge of finishing him on the ground only to finish it immediately later with that vicious roundhouse. I'm not saying there's corruption yet in the UFC but some guys definitely seem like they're getting D Wade foul call treatment.
