Yeah, what he said.
Bisping is awesome.

You guys are arguing hypothetical’s to try and prove your point that the lack of cage training caused Cro Cop's loss. I'm using actual facts to prove mine (that getting kicked in the head and knocked out is NOT the way to win fights).
You can speculate all you want about what type of training would have prevented his loss, but it's all speculation. The fact is he got beat because he was knocked out by a kick to the head, not because he got ground and pounded. Guys get beat up MUCH MUCH worse than Cro Cop did and come back to win fights so to say that was the reason for his loss rather than the actual kick that knocked him out is just stupid. Sometimes the most simple answer is the correct one.
Sure the fight didn't happen in a vacuum but if you can say getting beat up on the ground caused him to catch a KO kick to the head while standing, then I can just as easily say coming out to Duran Duran music is the reason he lost.
The fact remains that Cro Cop didn't lose the fight because of lack of cage training, he got beat up because of it. He lost the fight by getting KO'd in the middle of the ring via a swift kick to the head when he guarded his body rather than his head.
But hey, if over analyzing stuff to try gets your rocks off, go for it.
No one is arguing anything hypothetical. He did get taken down and had the shit beat out of him. If you think it's so easy to come back from being elbowed in the head for for 3 or 4 minutes by a 250 lbs. guy, I know a couple of guys who would be willing to do it to you for a few minutes. I'm sure they'd be willing to bang with you immediately afterwards, too.
Do you think there's maybe a reason Gonzaga took him down in the beginning of the fight? Why would he waste all that energy on GnP when he could have just kicked him in the head right off the bat and won the fight?
Edit: I assume you saw Cro Cop/Eddie Sanchez (Cro Cop's first fight in the UFC). The first four minutes or so was Cro Cop taking Sanchez apart standing, which led to him going down, which resulted in a quick TKO on the ground. Anyone who saw the fight would say that Sanchez was thoroughly outstruck on his feet, and if he wanted a rematch with Mirko, he needs to work on his striking. Of course that's all "hypothetical". Eddie Sanchez really needs to work on his ground defense, because of course, that's where he was beaten.
Have you seen a Pride or K-1 ring? They're just like boxing rings, with ropes and everything. Thus, cage tacics can't come into play as there's nothing to push an opponent into, and ground and pound is less prominent. Cro Cop had no experience with such tatics. If you're on the ground in Pride and get pushed into the ropes, you're stood up right away.
Cro Cop got beat up, was stood up, and instantly ate a kick because he was still groggy from the ground elbows. If you don't think that's possible, go hang with Saint of Killer's friends and see what you think then.
Actually, that IS the reason why he lost.Quote:

A mistake he made because he was dazed from some beefy elbows.Quote:

The other big difference is that elbows are illegal in Pride, which totally changes the dynamic of the ground. Elbows make GnP much easier and Cro Cop's preferred "cling and wait for a stand up" defense a lot more difficult.
I'm missing something here.
