Wow. This is quite a blow to UFC. I don't know if he will be able to come back because Dana and the Fertittas are most likely shocked and upset. And with the Fedor news well, this really is a rough patch for them business wise.

Dana did an interview stating that Randy's still under contract to UFC, and that he's ready to promote him the next time Randy decides to come out of retirement. Those comments make me think that Dana isn't taking this personally, which is good for Randy.
Randy sounded like he was sorta pissed about his compensation (Chuck is the highest paid UFC fighter), which is completely understandable. Boo to him not doing the color commentary anymore. The guy was really, really good in the booth.
I think Dana hit the nail on the head. Randy's unretired before, and he's much more marketable going out on top than he would be getting beat by a lesser, non-Fedor level opponent. This is a good move for his acting career, which seems to be mimicking The Rock's, and not just because Randy's doing a Scorpion King movie. Even losing to a guy like Minotauro could hurt Randy's marketability. I'm sure he's learned from watching Liddell's gradual marketing fall over his last two fights.
I'm not happy to see Randy go. He's done a lot for this sport and a fight between him and Fedor would have been incredible. We'll see if it eventually happens. Maybe the UFC can do a bit of finagling and come up with something.
Hughes vs Serra...tough call this season because Hughes is a real asshole and I hate him for it. But Serra is the typical New York tough guy which also bugs the crap outta me (although he gained some points in my book after he beat GSP). I guess this season could go either way for me.
UFC 77 looks good...one of my favorite guys, Tim Sylvia, is back in action against The Truth. Gonna be a good fight. I hope Richie wins his belt back...but Silva is gonna be tough to beat.
UFC 78 has a good card so far...I love watching Bisping fight (except against Hamill) and it's in NJ so I might get to see it for real. We'll see.
I think you may be the only Sylvia fan on the planet outside of his family.
Seriously. Sylvia sucks stinky ball sweat.
If he doesn't go all out this fight, he is done for.
I dunno...
I like what I've seen so far from Vera (he really does seem to have a complete package of skills) but being 6'8" means Sylvia could KO him with one punch, pretty much anytime. How big's Vera? That size can be a real problem.
