Since all 3 console platforms are out now, we all have a new legion of games to look forward to. We've talked about the most anticipated 2007 games in Yoshis' thread so I'd like to take a different angle for this one.
What games do you want to see now? What kind of new game ideas do you think are now possible using the new power and/or controller schemes of the 360, PS3 and Wii? So think of that sequel you'd love to see made and what needs to be in there to get you to buy it. Every so often a game will get mentioned in a thread, some people will chime in and say how they loved it and hope a sequel comes out, I hope to get a more precise list and cool ideas out of this thread.
From the top of my head to get things started:
Blast Corps 2- How much would this rock on 360? BC was such a great idea and it worked really well. Lots of variety, a ton of fun and some serious challenge. It had an old school "beat the clock/score!" core, every vehical controlled and behaved differently and you could blow everything up. It's been so long since Blast Corps came out I think now is the perfect time to make a sequel that could really show off some crazy shit.
Killer Instinct 3- I know a lot of people hate on KI, but fuck 'em. KI Gold was just a baby step of a sequel and we could all use a new cool ass fighting game. I like a lot of the characters and think the foundation is there to make a game that even more people would like given more depth. I'm thinking a merger of KI and Weapon Lord (which I thought had some awesome ideas, but was really hard). Crazy combos that everyone loves, finishers built into combos, maybe a tag team feature, interactive backgrounds. Given what Rare did so long ago graphically, lets see what they can do now. The world needs more Fulgore.
Dead Rising 2- I'm thinking of an airport or hospital setting. Dead Rising is a great game with some issues, but every one of those issues can be addressed and make a truly amazing game that I think could be remembered as one of this generations best games. For the airport setting you'd be working to fix up the transport and keeping the necessary people alive (like a pilot, he could be cool and help out or a dick who just looks out for himself depending on what you do). The hospital could be like you're a ER doc and people are coming in injured, things escalate and you have to lock the doors and you need to survive with the fresh zombies flopping out of hospital beds and the morgue gets lively half way though the game, stuff like that. Think of the weapons and power ups! Scalpels, bone saws, oxygen tanks, all sorts of drugs, shots and stuff. Loosen up the time constraints, but keep that sort of structure (it's good motivation I think and you need a time limit for stuff given theh genre). Improve the damn AI too please! And most importantly, online co-op. Make this what RE Outbreak should have been. Voice chat that works when your within earshot of people, and make long distance communication possible through walkie talkies (the batteries could die, making for some sticky situations. But the batteries should last a long while, make new ones easy to find like in a camera shop) or through the intercom system in the building.
You work together to get through the story, splitting up tasks, fighting bosses together, running down halls with the lights flickering with a fire axe in your hands to help your friend who got trapped in the generator room with an item you need. And if someone gets bit they turn into a zombie after some time. And every new game you start all of the items are rearranged so it's different every time. I'm thinking 4-6 player co-op.
Gun 2- It doesn't have to be a new Gun, just the Western theme is what I really want. It's the most under utilized theme today and the potential is ripe for the picking. You could be a sheriff or an outlaw, robbing banks, trains, towns. Setting up a hideout, cool ass gun fights and shoot outs, bar room brawls, drinking mini games. I thought Gun was a lot of fun even if it was really linear.
Gears of War 2- We're totally going to get this, so I'll just run down the obvious stuff that needs to be fixed. Computer teammate AI. I mean seriously, but some effor into it. Seperate the cover and jump dodge/run buttons. Not hard to make it work and would eliminate a lot of the "DON"T STICK TO THAT DAMN WALL!" moments. Whatever Halo 3 uses for matchmaking, use that. Throw Bungie the cash for making it middleware and you are fucking gold for a shit load of Live games Microsoft. Boss fights! Give us more and better boss fights! And since Rainbow Six: Vegas is doing it now, give us 4 player online co-op. Straight up deathmatch would be good for when you have an odd number of players too.
