Japanese version of Streets of Rage 3

Aka. Bare Knuckles 3...can someone tell me where I can purchase this game?

Why do you want the Jp version? Is there something that was axed from the US version, like how Poison was turned into a man in the US Final Fight (well, the SegaCD version kept female Poison, but gave her long shorts)?

Or do you just wanna escape that terrible US box art?

The US SoR3 got the censor treatment. It might not be what you think though. As far as I know, no females were removed, but a drag queen at the end of level 1 (who was also a playable character if I remember correctly) was removed. They also changed the color of Blaze's dress.

from everything I've read the Japanese version is better, better colors, it's uncensored...I just want the best version available, the American version is pretty expensive, $35-$40 on Ebay, so why not spend a little more and get the best version available?

I have it. The transvestite boss is funny as hell, and is indeed playable via a code. I would not settle for the US version if you can get the Japanese one. It's the little extra things that count. :)

From what I can remember from top of my head... (it's been a while since I plugged in my BK3 cart, and even longer since I've played US version)

- Axel's shirt color was changed to yellow (stain? yuck) from clean white.
- Blaze's dress color was changed to silver/grey from red. (why?)
- Ash, the questionable(?) mid-boss of the first level was removed.
- Most (if not all) of the female enemies got "painted-on" denim jackets & long pants treatment compared to skimpy outfits of the original.
- (now I'm sorta fuzzy on this) Parts of the original intro cutscene were removed (like the city exploding - the accompanying text lists # of casualties, Axel punching the screen, etc.)

All in all, if you have a choice, I'd definitely recommend Japanese original (Bare Knuckle III) over sensored Streets of Rage 3...
(btw, my MD cart came with a neat poster with movelist on the backside.)
