Songbird Productions is going to released the fabled beta of Native, the R-Type-esque shmup K3V was raving about a few weeks ago.
Thanks to PC Engine Fan X of Shmups for the info.
(I couldn't verify this at Songbird Productions's site, so perhaps a more knowledgeable Jaguar fan such as K3V could verify this news for me.)

That game did look incredible from the pics K3V showed even if it clearly ripped off R-Type.
I remember hearing about this so long ago (it seems, anyway) from a friend of mine who was seriously into Atari/ the Jaguar at the time. I remember it looked pretty detailed. I think I'll have to make him buy it so I can play it.

I think Mr. PC Engine Fan X is a bit confused...he's been posting this all over the 'net, but it's not exactly right.
What Songbird did was to release the Native Demo (which has been available on the 'Net for free for years) on a CD as a free pack-in with Protector: Special Edition. This was done because Protector SE has built in CD-encryption bypass capabilities, allowing anyone to freely create Jag CD software without worrying about getting it encrypted (since the key is nowhere to be found).
The one level demo has no sound, the powerups aren't active (you pass right by them), and is very incomplete. But, the graphics are very impressive and I would suggest anyone with a Jag/CD should check it out. The Native demo was released on a Demo CD along with BattleSphere Gold a few months ago as well.
Unfortunately there is no "complete" version of Native - just the demo.
EDIT: Also, Duranik was not at World of Atari 98, but some guys from Jaguar Interactive were there and loaded up the game using BJL. This, once again, would have been the demo version which means no "big mid-stage & end stage bosses to 'bring down" & awesome power-ups galore!" - they don't exist in the demo.
