Was thinking of picking up Puzzle Fighter for DC. How is it compared to the other versions out there? Any extra modes or characters?
Also has anyone played Plus Plum on DC? It looks like a Puyo Puyo/ Tetris title with anime characters. Thanks! *-neo

Ahh yes, Plus Plumb, a game I searched for for nearly a year and half. Its a nifty game, but not great, its kinda like a mix of tetris and puzzle bobble, the anime characters don't play too much of a big deal with it, and as for ending animations or anything cool like extra modes, this game has none :(
Puzzle Fighter DC has 2 game modes not in any other version. Also has an art gallery that I think is unique to that version. No new characters. If you like the series, it's worth it for the 2 new play modes alone. It also has English language option.
Plus Plum is pretty strange. You use marbles that can each be one of two colors, which you can change as they drop, and if they touch another marble when they land, they change the color of that marble. Scoring high with a color will make that color weigh more for the other player, which will lead to a loss. Each character also has a special power they can use. There's both a story mode and a free play mode. Really hard to master, but worth it if it can be gotten cheap. I paid $20 and don't regret it.
Puzzle Fighter for Dc has a Tetris Attack style game mode and one other(Columns style I think??) in addition to the standard game play. Before playing you choose between X, Y and Z mode. I'd say it is worth getting. It's missing the street puzzle mode though.
Where did you score it for that cheap ?? Maybe... Toys'N'Joys !!!!!????? *tries to calm his ravaging hatred for TnJ, but fails*Quote:

I am a huge Plus Plum fan. It is definitely my favorite puzzle game, and one of my favorite games for DC. I've been playing the game for quite awhile, and I'm always thinking up new chains and ways to play it. When I play it a lot, I find myself thinking about the game when I'm trying to sleep. I was thinking about doing an FAQ with different set-ups and stuff, but I dont' think there'd be any way I could do it in Text form...I'd need colors. I'll explain the gameplay a bit for those interested:
One colored block drops at a time. There are 6 different colored blocks, red, blue, yellow, green, purple, and white. Each color has an opposite, the opposites are red-blue, yellow-green, and purple-white. As a block falls, you can change its color to the opposite. So if you see you have a purple block falling, you can change it to white by pressing the a button as it falls. If 3 or more blocks of the same color and touching they disappear. The tricky part is that each time a group of blocks disappears, all blocks touching the disappearing block change into their opposite color. Here's an example, if I have a 2 green blocks together, and I'm about to drop a 3rd on it, this is what happens:
initial:
G (dropping)
GW
GWP
then:
G
GW
GWP
result: (_ empty space)
_
_P
_PP
So 3 purples are now connecting and they disappear too. So dropping that green block creates a 2 chain.
Each player next to their board has a table of weights. Each color brick has a different weight and they all start out at 1 I believe. Whenever your opponent starts a chain with a certain colored block, the color that started that chain increases in weight on your side. So if your opponent starts a chain with a purple block, the weight of your purple blocks increases by an amount depending on how big the chain was. A player loses when his side of the screen (which is actually a scale) falls to the bottom of the screen due to the weight of all of his/her bricks. So if your purples have a large number next to them, you want to try to not put any purple bricks down, because they will weigh down your scale and you will lose faster.
Each player has a different ability. One character can switch his highest weight with the opponent's weight of that color. Another character drops a bunch of dud blocks to get in the way. The different character's surprisingly play very differently.
I've probably written too much about this game, and no one will read it. But I definitely suggest that you check out the game. The chains can get pretty complicated, but once you have one and are comfortable with the game, they are pretty easy to set-up.
Oh, and about the puzzle fighter for DC, I absolutely love the Tetris-attack style game, the game is worth it just for this. I like that mode better than the actual VS mode. The columns mode is really terrible, though. Once the players start dropping on each other, the game becomes very chaotic. It just becomes huge drop after huge drop.
Flux, that was very impressive. Should I actually find Plus Plumb I will be using that guide. Do consider posting it at Gamefaqs.
Ammadeau, how do you change the language to English? And will that change the option screens to English?
I checked Gamefaqs and the DC version has one new character, Morrigan in bat form complete with new attacks. Also Anita and Lei Lei are supposed to have redone animation and attacks. I'm sold, hope my copy arrives tomorrow! *-neo
I forget where the option is for it, but I have the save with it selected on my site if you can download such things. Not too hard to find though. It puts the entire game into english, even changes the name to Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, but it might not change the option screen to English. Everything else though, even Dan's explination of the game. Didn't know Morrigan's bat form wasn't in the other games. I use mostly Felicia and Sakura myself.
Another feature I forgot is you can custom edit your drop attack pattern, which is sort of cheap to use when playing against a real person because you can create some tough patterns that way.
That's a great explination of Plus Plum. I wish I had the patience to get good at the game. It took me forever just to master columns, but unlocking all the stuff in Hanagumi Columns 2 was a great incentive. :)
Great job Flux, now I want Plus Plumb !!
