Ghost sues Pac-Man for sexual discrimination
Sue, one of the four ghosts who have been engaged in a fierce battle with Pac-Man since 1980, is suing Pac-Man for sexual discrimination. Though they’ve shared a fractious relationship throughout their career, the animus between the two has increased greatly over the past few years, mostly stemming from when she wasn’t contacted to make an appearance in Pac-Man World and was instead replaced by her twin, Pinky.
In her plaintiff report, Sue asserts that whenever Pac-Man gets hold of one of the coveted energizer pills (a pill whose legality is still in debate) he always singles her out and eats her first.
“I can be getting up to 800, 1600 points over here,” Sue said in a recent interview, “But I can’t go anywhere near that level and always have to settle for 200.”
Pac-Man, in response, scoffs at the allegations. “I only get to her first because she’s always trying very hard to get to me so naturally she’s always the closest,” Pac-Man said, “Honestly, I think she has a crush on me but her skin is made of acid so there’s that whole unrequited love thing.”
Though Sue did not comment regarding her possible spurned feelings of affection, she did rebut Pac-Man’s other statements. “Right after he eats me, he claims to get distracted and goes after the salty pretzel or the bell, leaving the other male ghosts unharmed. I find that very suspicious.”
Blinky, a co-worker of Sue’s who will also be called to the witness stand, said, “Personally, I feel Sue’s claims are groundless since I don’t think Pac-Man treats anyone with favoritism or anything. However, I can see if this is a side-effect frustration from being in this line of work. Being a Namco ghost is a very male-oriented profession, like being a firefighter or a Transformer.”
Inky was too bashful to comment and did not return our calls.
