I remember there was that game, Magician, for the NES. I always wanted to try that one. I heard it was crazy hard.
I wanted to play Young Merlin too, but i never did. That Jukaphonic Menace game for GBA reminds me of Young Merlin. I don't know why, and never having played Young Merlin, i don't think it should.
It was good for its time. That is, back when I had nothing to do but play video games all day, and RPGs and 2D fighters were pretty much all I really wanted to play, it was satisfying. But with all the games out now, make sure you get to all the classics first, since Young Merlin isn't much of a standout.
It did have a pretty memorable mine cart scene, though, just like Lufia II had a memorable labyrinth.
I was pretty young when I played the game so I found it pretty tough. Not sure how it stands up today though.
