Bad, bad idea. What made those films so great was the bad acting, the boom mikes showing, the uncoriographed (sp?) fights and Rudy Ray Moore. This could be as bad of an idea as a Uwe Boll film.

Word of a Dolemite remake has been going around for a while. For a long time LL Cool J was being talked about as playing Dolemite.

I don't see a big-budget, homogenized Hollywood production capturing the vibe of the original shitty yet awesome movies, especially without Rudy Ray Moore. Dolemite needs to stay in the 70s.
Rudy Ray Moore is Dolemite, without him it would have been just another forgotten blaxploitation flick like Dr. Black and Mr. Hyde or Boss Nigger.
The whole genre just needs to be left alone and just appreciated for what it was.
You all remember when they re-did Shaft? Yeah this movie will suck.
