I'm pretty sure that it was environmental interference from the Wii and Xbox 360. However, I also ended up changing the channel on my wireless bridge to channel 5 (because one message board suggested setting the channel to 4 or higher), I reset the controller, and I updated the firmware again. Apparently a certain combination of doing all these things fixed my controller, because it hasn't disconnected since then.
