Here's an unofficial sites estimate. Looks like they lost at least 100k from launch, or 1/5th of the playerbase.

Fascinating. I can't get enough anecdotes or unofficial data in a thread I click on to talk about the fucking game.
It's incredibly rare to get official statistics about MMO subscription levels unless it's good news. In-game polling is as good as you're going to get.
It's true, nobody wants to say the sky is falling. Yoshi, I'll be 100% honest, after that first month and not finding time to play (not the games fault), I almost didnt' re-up.
I get that, but I don't want to come into this thread and read 7 out of 11 posts from people who aren't playing the game.
BTW, I probably won't be on tonight, because I have a retirement dinner (unfortunately not my own) to attend.
OH MAN FUCK IT I'M NOT PLAYING IF YOSHI ISN'T ON.
This will matter once I hit 50.
Someone's legitimately bitching because people are on-topic. Amazing.
But yeah, while it's a great game in and of itself SWTOR is also a terrible MMO, and that nature of its genre brings in things like a huge amount of people that just want to roll face in PVP. Cute as that may be, it's such a tiny piece of the game's focus that I am completely unsurprised that they are hemorrhaging subscribers. On top of that it still turns into a grind for gear at max level, and lacking many basic MMO niceties totally kills the chance for top level player mechanics to really make that grind worth it.
Considering the story-heavy singleplayer focus it might've been better if they had designed it like Guild Wars, with no subscription fee but new full-priced story content every 5-6 months. I am still shocked there's no combat log and macros.
1-49 was fun, at least. Imperial Agent had an awesome storyline. You start as Space James Bond and end up as Space Nick Fury: Agent of Nothing
What happened to you anyway? Where did you roll?
