the government didnt censor him, private companies did, bit of difference. the government cannot censor what you are saying(except in cases of national security..at least in theory), but if the company that you are working for decides you are going to hurt their bottom line, they are under no obligation to keep you around to drag them down. I dont really care about him, he will probably get a sirrius radio show before the month is out, but there is double standards at work. if we went through the ipods of every one of those players who were so offended at being called hoes, i wonder how many would have songs that glorify calling women bitches, hoes and worse. its easier to sell being offended when you arnet paying to listen to people use that misogynistic language for your entertainment.

because it really takes one to know one? i wonder, since he was so gung-ho trying to get the duke lacrosse players convicted for their "racist" crimes, wonder if he is going to apologise now that they have been exonerated. He's not a bigot, though. The comment was clearly made in humor, an old white guy attempt to talk like the rappers that most of the girls on the Rutgers team probably have on their fucking ipod anyway.

The way the media and Rutgers has handled this is disgraceful. Them playing for pity saying they were "scarred for life" and that the greatness of their season has been "stripped from them." It's just lies. 1000 times more people know about their great season now than ever would have otherwise, and they can't possibly give a shit what Don Imus thinks of them anyway.

Imus is an old irrelevant cornball, and I don't like his show, but this witch hunt bullshit and posturing by media whores is disgusting, and the fact that MSNBC would yank him from the air in the middle of a fundraising event for cancer kids is far more tasteless than anything Imus said.

Richard messed up once, maybe twice. Like I had said Imus makes his comedy out of being a jerk. I doubt Kramer is ever going to go near any words that start with "ni" ever again.

XM/Sirius should pick him up and steal more listeners from freeFM.

Also, I don't think he should have been fired over this. Black radio stations talk shit about whitey all the time and no one says a thing. Fuck that double standard BS.

Yeah, it seems a bit ridiculous. Do they really care that much about what some jackass on the radio said? Then everybody's going on about how mature and wonderful they are. That may be, but it seems a bit patronizing, to me, anyway.

Imus' firing will not be the watershed moment for us to have some race debate. Most people just don't want to talk about it. A month from now, we'll be right back where we started.

A podcast you might consider listening to, from New York radio critic Allan Sniffen, that I basically agree with. Recorded prior to Imus being let go at CBS.

At least it appears the Radiothon will be continuing, albeit with a much smaller audience, I guess. The WFAN (the station Imus' show originated from) website has Mrs. Imus and Charles McCord in Imus' old timeslot.

And it wasn't even said in earnest, either. He was just trying to goof on the fact that they looked like intimidating badasses, which they do.

Frankly, I'm surprised it wasn't some gay activist group going after Imus, considering how often the words "homo" and "queer" got thrown around on there (more often from his producer than himself). I always felt it was a bit "cringeworthy," but I didn't really take him too seriously.
