We did that with Rocky for the 18 years we had him, and he was fine. I recall all of one skirmish where he got lightly scratched by another cat. We definitely lucked out, but he was so adventerous that there wasn't much we could do to prevent him from going out - he'd always find a way to sneak out, either right when we opened the door to go inside the houe, or even just to get the mail.Quote:

I'm in school for dog grooming right now and one of the students' dogs was hit by a car a day ago. Little toy poodle. The goddamn jaw came off apparently. Not a happy time at the Southern Institute of Pet Grooming.

My cat was found in a half-filled swimming pool one day. I guess he fell in and had no way to get out, so I know how it feels to know your cat went badly.
