I figured we could use a little balance in our reporting of figures from Japan. While current sales are interesting, future hardware sales are likely more closely tied to future software releases, where Sony is leading Nintendo. All of the Square Enix tripe shows that Japan's taste sucks in the present and future, but at least it's not trash software on trash hardware this time for the most part.

Well thank god for that. I really like the Wii and DS and still think Japan is overdoing it. I've no idea why FF anything would be on the list at this point, and Odin Sphere is available in Japan to all who want to buy it, but it's good to see something other than Brain Training Kanji Loli XVI cluttering up the lists.

Also, Monster Hunter 360, please!

This poll was probably taken before Odin Sphere came out (which was only just last week I believe).

Yep. Shining Wind is out now as well I believe.

The only problem with Famitsu's most wanted lists is that they tend to have absolutely no correlation with how the games sell, particularly when the not-DQ/FF titles are considered.

RPG series in general tend to get high placement in here, but then the subsequent sales are dismal - look at Sakura Taisen V, Star Ocean 3, or any given Tales game.

It might seem refreshing to look at this list and not see DS titles rank one through ten, but that's what the software sales charts will mostly look like in the future all the same.

Surprising that Lost Odyssey is on there.

Doesn't mean people will buy it. Japanese voted Babel as what they wanted to get Best Picture.. by a landslide of like 83%. Of course, the movie wasn't released in Japan for some 2-3 months after the Academy Awards.

Another Shining Game... I keep waiting for a good one. :(

Those silly Japs. Different strokes I guess, but I got tired of RPG's a long time ago.
