New MGS Substance details from OPM

Well I was looking at the new OPM in Walmart while out of town the other night. Unfortunately I don't have the issue here to quote, so maybe somebody with it can give their exact wording.

Anyway, according to the OPM, the title is "Metal Gear Solid: Substance" as opposed to "Metal Gear Solid 2:Substance", and it will include not only the things we already know about, but also MGS using the MGS2 graphic engine. :eek: Of course, they may have their wires crossed, considering I haven't seen this info anywhere online, but if this is true, well there's no force on earth or heaven that can keep me fromm this game...

Still, maybe we should combine this two into one.

Anyway, I havent heard anything about MGS also being in Substance. So far all the info revealed was that it would present MGS2 playable with both Snake/Raiden, and bunch of VR missions, plus few more extras.

Personally I would hope for inclusion of old Snake adventures, as MG, MG2 and Snake Revenge. Now, that would be awesome.

If this is true, then they would have to put in a lot of work I guess. MGS on Xbox, and not as a port, would mean they would have to make the game pretty much from scratch wouldn't they?

Or simply use Bleemcast version. Maybe make it prettier a bit too.

But as of yet I havent heard any official proof of that its actully going to happen. We have to wait till it gets closer to release date, and they will release more info.

MGS was built to run in low-res with blurring effects. I've run it on an emulator before in very high-res, and it makes the game look like utter crap. One of the few games that looks better the more you try to make it look worse, but if it's going to be displayed like that, it needs a new graphics engine.

Another interesting thing, the OPM said Konami's plans for future installments of the Metal Gear franchise is to do a true 'new game' every 2 years, with a 'derivitive' title, like Substance and the PSX VR mission disk, in the in-between years.

Uhhh..... itd be very easy for them to include a pretty new version of MGS, because game was already spiffed up. It came out for the PC in late 2000 or early 2001 or something, and it even had the usable first person mode (in addition to much better graphics).

If this weretrue, I might sorta kinda give a darn about MGSS...
