Just my own personal experience. I'm no "brah". Fuck those assholes.
Well, there you go. So am I reading that article correctly in that the protein stuff works for recovery, but there's a point of diminishing returns based on the amount consumed post-workout? I've never done the protein thing to gain strength. That just seems silly. Variations to muscle workload and creating muscle confusion are what we do at my kung fu school to gain functional strength.
I think it makes sense to put fuel back in the tank if you just used it all up, but you don't have to do it within 16 minutes and 33 seconds of when you re-racked your last weight or you lose all your gainz and get fat.
Yeah, that type of scrutiny is pretty ridiculous. I try to eat/drink within an hour after class. Seems to work just fine for me.
I tell my clients to eat a nice high protein meal or protein shake within an hour or so of working out. Most of them bring it with and pound it down right after finishing their work outs.
If you are trying to lose weight and struggling with eating bad food, its a good idea to get something healthy into your body right after your workout when you might be really hungry to help a)you from going through the wendys drive thru and b)get some healthy food into your gullet.
That's what Soylent is for me! I haven't had fast food in forever.
