I think Last Hope was it. I am still amazed that came out on cartridge.
Didn't you not only have to send in your own cartridge, but also pay a shit ton of money to get the cart version?
Could be. I didn't follow it that closely.
It's amazing that this thing recieved support for 17 years. I mean, 17 fucking years. In tech-years the Neo Geo is hundreds of years old.
Yep. Although it did hold its own all the way to the last generation. Even the Saturn couldn't do its games perfectly because of RAM limitations.
I accepted that the Neo Geo was dead a few years ago, since new releases were trickles and mainly sequels to its three big franchises. However, I'm still discovering and enjoying titles from its existing library. I have about 32 Neo Geo games so far, and there's still about 20+ games I still want to get my hands on. Official support may have ended, but the "24-bit beast" is still going strong for me.
Why yes, yes it is.
Last Hope doesn't really count though since it is not from SNK, just a fancy homebrew. I still remember seeing the system sold for $599 at EB back in the day.
Me too. I wanted one badly for years until I finally bought a CD, ironically enough, from Greg Kasavin. I got an MVS later. I never did own an AES.
