This is a decent popcorn flick and that is all. I was waiting for it to get over with 3/4ths of the way. Electro is lame, Paul Giamatti is stupid and Chris Cooper is completely wasted.
The movie looks great though and I do like Garfield and Stone.
Is it just me or did it feel like the Studio was totally trying to force the Sinister Six shit into this?
No, you're right. They seemed less concerned with telling a story and more concerned about setting up sequels and spinoffs.
Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Movie Execs
He needs to call in Leopardon to step on Hollywood.
It is the only way to succeed.
It's a shame they got the look and casting so right for Spidey with Garfield and Gwen. I liked the parts with them in it. Osborne wasn't developed enough—not sure how he figured shit out so quick. His entire story was rushed. Spiderman is a character that works well for movies because it's so animated and action-oriented. I enjoyed Peter finding out about his dad and that kind of stuff.
I thought I would hate Electro but I didn't. As far as villains can go he seemed... okay? Goofy origin but d'oh well. His power is genuinely creepy and threatening on a scale that it could kill an entire city. Spiderman never seemed to be in any real danger though? I HATED the mech shit Rhino had on. Just the design of it was clunky, ridiculous and poorly done. Giamatti was pretty dumb also. Way too much.
Is Giamatti playing it "Shoot 'em Up" over the top?
