Thinking about it, as much as I'd like the Altima, I think I should go ahead and go cheaper for now, may go with a 2007 or so if I can find something without a lot of miles on it. Ugh so much work to find a car one would like and be able to use for a good while as well as be comfortable in >.< I'll probably check out some Comparo's from Car and Driver last year etc to see what I can find.
I should probably shoot for the 12k-15k range (At most)
Car mags will almost universally tell you to get the Honda Fit. See if it's something you could like--I certainly dig it :) The three-door Yaris is actually kinda cool looking, too, which is amazing for a Toyota product in the last ten years.Quote:

What do you guys think of the Toyota Camry? I paid off my student loans completely and no more debt. So now, I'm saving up for a car. I wanted to get the Acura TSX but with gas prices and having to get premium gas just to give it its performance, not worth it. So my choice as of now is a Toyota Camry SE
The Scion TC is also another choice but I'm not too fond of 2 doors. Thats the only thing thats holding me back. Price is in my price range and I can have that saved up easily by end of year? The Camry will run me $25-30k and I should have that saved up by June 2009 of my bday.
Camry always does well in comparo tests, but it's about the most boring car on the road. But take my opinion for what it is--the Camry segment doesn't interest me at all.Quote:

This is probably totally irrelevant to you, but since you suggested the Scion tC I'll throw it out there--if it were my money and I was looking for a car around $25k, I'd get a Mustang GT. But if four doors and good gas mileage are what you want, it ain't the car for you.

I'd get the TSX. That's what my gf ended up with and it is great. The interior is really incredible for the money. Don't let premium fuel scare you off, it hardly makes a difference in cost. It's still only a 4 cylinder so milage isn't that bad. I'll ask what my gf gets when she gets home. With all those miles you drive i would MUCH rather be sitting in a TSX than a TC. The resale will be rediculously high too.
I agree Thief should check out the Fit. I think they're cool. And isn't driving like a go-cart always complementary when the car mags say it? In that price range though I'd probably get something bigger that's 2-3 years old and lightly used.
edit - gf's TSX gets 30 mpg highway and 20-22 in Los Angeles city driving.
The pricing I was going by was from Scions website where you build your own car. Base is $17k. With rims, navigation, spoiler and what nots makes it almost $24kQuote:
