Wild Arms 5

Picked this up along with Metroid Prime 3 today. So far it's pretty good.
The radom battles are there in full force but the encounter rate is not crazy high and the HEX battle system is extremely fun and strategic.

The game is overly-cliche but its almost ironic because the characters at different times will remark about this. The main hero seems to be in his own world away from the reality everyone else faces.

Anyone else pick this game up?
Oh and the packaging is awesome.

I've only played through the first Wild Arms game, but for some reason I have every game in the series, so I'll most likely pick this one up as well whenever it hits $20.

Well its comes in a glossy black cardboard case, comes with an 80 page artbook that has top quality paper and a full color manual.

I absolutely loved Wild Arms 4 because of the HEX system and the platforming. So, I'll be picking up part 5 as soon as humanly possible.

Did they bring back the platforming elements for this game? Or have they removed that element?

One thing I didn't like about Wild Arms 3 was the fact that you had to explore every inch of the over world map until a town suddenly appeared....very annoying and tedious for me. Does this game have any sort of overworld map?

That was in Wild ARMs 2 as well, and I liked it. Felt like I was really discovering these places. It's not every inch either, you exaggerate. The radar "pulse" covers a certain radius.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. Wild Arms 4 was one of my favorite releases of the year. I've played 5 for about 1.5 hours and it feels like a mixture of 3 and 4. Unfortunately, the platforming aspects appear to be gone in favor of the older "map exploration" feature.

Yeah, the HEX battle system is really good. The encounter rate isnt high at all but its almost fun for a change to do random battles.

The game dosent have such an emphasis on platforming although you can still jump,slide, shoot your guns etc. You get different types of bullets to solve traps with such as fire, ice etc.

Overall its pretty fun and it has some real funny dialogue.

i've been debating whether or not to pick up this game. according to nocturne, this is good. argh....i have so much rpg's to play, not enough time to play 'em.
