It's so far from the NES platformers where you have one attack, and now it's a lot like fighting games in that I suck at them.
The only things in the 3d Ninja Gaidens that resemble the old games are:
1) You're a badass ninja.
2) It's hard.

Don't forget that you can download some free ninja movies this weekend from the Marketplace. It's a NG2 sweepstakes weekend.
I just got to chapter 10 today, and the beginning of this chapter solidifies the fact that this is a better all around game than the first Xbox Ninja Gaiden...just WOW.
So far, I've liked every single level except for the first 3/4 of Chapter 8. The combination of cheap ass enemies and BORING level design make that level a pain in the ass. Its the only crappy level in the game so far.
And yes, being forced to use arrows at certain points in the game is the only other sucky thing about NG2.
Developer's fault if he can mash through, though.
I'm not talking about cans and can'ts, I'm talking about him choosing to do it. There's nothing wrong with being able to mash through a game on easy mode. There is something wrong with choosing to by my philosophy. With all of the great things you can do in the games once precision becomes an ally, it's a damned shame that people would choose to play by mashing. There's simply a lot more fun to be had by increasing your skill. The game was *designed* so that you can still look cool if you're shit on easy mode, champ, that's why his moves are all so simple to pull off. But it's still far more rewarding to do what you want to do, on purpose, at all times. So please, relax your balls, Taint. It's really oky.
I didn't button mash so much as use the same 3-5 lvl 3 moves. But most of them were all YYYYY, or XXYYY, or XYYXYYY or something.
So it felt like button mashing.
I don't like learning button combos to perform moves, which is why I hate fighting games and why I didn't learn many moves in NG2.
i thought you were classy manQuote:

I didn't even know Rich was playing on easy. Just that if he can get by while mashing, why blame him? As you said, it still looks cool.
Sounds like he played it like most people; by picking a small pool of moves and sticking with them. I guess he could make himself diversify if he wanted to, but I don't see what's wrong with just using what works.
That sounds awfully hostile for a DYLE? post. Was that really necessary?
