Well, I know it does sound like that... but you don't know how unbelievably annoyed I got trying to get to the 4th level boss WITHOUT loosing a single life. If I die before the 4th level, I usually start over(I'm playing MVS mind you...) Then it's a miracle if I don't die atleast twice on that son of a bitch. It took atleast 5 dollars of false starts and 4 days of MS3 cramming to smash my record. I'll see to it that my next record breaker is untouchable. ;)
If you take the underground level in stage 4, the one with the drill slug, you can amass either a stockpile of shotgun ammo or lazer ammo, both of witch make the level 4 boss considerably easier than takeing the other routes.
He doesnt even have a chance to shoot off much yellow lazers when hes red, when you have the shotgun or lazer. A buntch of blasts and hes toast.
That's the route I take all the time. It's just that for some stupid reason, I still manage to die from him atleast once trying to avoid those POWs giving you Lazer or Heavy Machine Gun... either that or I start becoming over zealous trying to pump him full of Shotgun.
In anycase, I went back, and after a dollar's worth of false starts, I destroyed my record again.

At this point, anybody attempting to beat my record will have to have a flawless game up until stage 5. I didn't die a single time(up until stage 5), and I got the highest bonuses for each stage. I think I got the highest bonus for each stage.. considering I got the "You're Great!" rank on each stage. I died out of stupidity on the alien space ship, right after you "rescue" Morden.
Chalk it up to crazy Jap's to shoot me off my high seat.

That last score on that scan makes my score look like shit.
I don't know how that type of score is possible. I mean, I still see some flaws in my overall game, but my style of playing is always out to get the higest score possible. Well, back to the drawing board... I'll top that score as well. I guarantee it.
There must be some nice bonuses for completing the game on a life with all the hostages. I really wish I could play my MS3 right now.
I suggest not letting the Japanese players' scores get to you. They're on a totally different level... It's like: us, them, and then God.

I think that score is possible if you complete the game with a single life and knife as much as you can.(Every knife = 500 points) Most of the scores are contributed by the final mission as you can get a lot of those 10,000, 20,000, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000 things.(A total of 150,000) But, the final mission is very difficult to play especially the last boss. I always die there, he's a FREAK!
I knife everything I possibly can, but I try to do it when it's safe to do so. After stage 3, all bets are off and I just have to think about survival. In the second stage, I do nothing but knife all those zombies. That type of score is possible, I just have to optimize every score opportunity. I bet my score would be atleast 100,000 points higher if take out the third level and fourth level boss without resorting to the shotgun. It will take some work, but it will be done. =\
