Let me answer a question here, because this thought process of "why are poor people allowed to vote when they do nothing but make poor choices their whole lives" is a bit disturbing. Taking that view in general is a bit disturbing, as I've known plenty of rich people who weren't fucking snobs, but didn't understand a goddamn thing about how I have to live my life (what do you mean you have to go to work, I got us tickets just tell your boss that?") and I've also known plenty of poor people who did everything they could and life just closed in around them and crushed their hopes to pieces.

So here's a list for you.


1. I am allowed to vote because after 18 I am allowed to fight and die for this country. This is important here, especially for the already enlisted.

2. I am allowed to vote, because the majority of those who have the money and the power, will do nothing but claw at and hold onto the money and the power, and not make decisions based on whats best for the country, over whats best for them in the end. While poor people may make poor choices (or whatever bullshit Yoshi thought process got you to that conclusion), Rich people make greedy choices, and tend to get rich by taking great big shits on the people surrounding them, and the laws that govern them. Thats a bit more dangerous in my opinion.

3. We'd consistently have Republican presidents, who supposedly hate the concept of government, yet for some reason want to run it.

4. You think the political process is a joke now? Wait until the Republicans and Democrats don't even have to bother lying to us anymore. Then you'll see a fucking farce.

5. Religion would take over and rape this country so fundamentally and thoroughly you'd think we were an islamic nation.


I'm sorry this thought process is just retarded and needs to die. How about starting at the top, and trying to remove the corruption from the system. Getting rid of electronic voting machines so Republicans can't make up election results would be a good place to set the mark, and go from there.

Unfortunately, this isn't true. There are millions of Americans who can fight and die for America but can't even vote for or against the man who sent them there. It's one of those "everyone's equal, but some are more equal than others" things that the U.S. so nicely ignores while it promotes democracy and liberty across the world to people who couldn't care less about it.

This is patently untrue because:

1) We have a volunteer armed force, and

2) Puerto Ricans aren't Americans.

You are being sarcastic, I hope. Both your assertions are wrong, and here's why:

1- The U.S. has a volunteer force, true, but those soldiers serving in the U.S. can vote every four years for or against the person and party that sent them to war. Soldiers stationed in PR cannot, and neither can the 3.8 million U.S. citizens living here. It's one thing to say "no one made you enlist," and another thing to not even let a family who lost a son or father in Iraq vote in favor or against the people who sent him over there.

2- Puerto Ricans are as much American citizens as anyone in the U.S., but that isn't the issue. If you come and live here, you can't vote for president either. It's a status problem, not a citizenship one.


It's a bullshit political limbo that the U.S. has danced around for fifty years, saying that we have to decide our future, when the Congress knows damn well that no decision made here has to be followed by them because the U.S. CONSTITUTION SAYS SO. It's Congress's decision, not P.R.'s, and the whole promotion of freedom in Iraq is bullshit when they can't even do it at home.

I love you Melf but I don't agree with you on this issue. If we dictated to Puerto Ricans (against their will according to the last statehood vote) that they're now officially part of America we'd be labeled Imperialist Motherfuckers (again) by G0zen and his crew.

Um, we already did that when we made them American citizens in 1917. ;)

And again, non-binding plebiscites in P.R. mean shit. We could vote 100% in favor of statehood, and Congress is under no obligation to grant it, thanks to the territorial clause in the Constitution. It's how they've skirted the issue for over half a century.

I, for one, do not want an uneven number of states, so I support this course of action.

So just grant statehood to DC. :p

But then what would they do with all those license plates?
