If they were smart, there would be a condition statement in the trade, similar to the "pending a physical" stuff you always see.

hey now..

According to ESPN.com, Roger Clemens will be named in George Mitchell's report on steroids, which is scheduled to be released Thursday afternoon.
The Bergen Record notes that "several" prominent Yankees will be named in the report, with one source telling the newspaper that "it's going to be a rough day in the Bronx." Brian McNamee, who worked a personal trainer for Clemens and Andy Pettitte, is said to have supplied Mitchell with information.
This is going to be a great fucking day. As long as Wright and Reyes aren't on it, it's win/win. Baseball deserves all the negative PR it's about to get, and the Yankees may be leading the way.
Sportscenter just implicated Pettite too, as well as the rumor of other yankee's (Hi Posada, Hi Rivera, Hi A-Rod) in fact Jeter may be the only clean player on the team.
Here are players I think may be on the list:
David Ortiz
Manny Ramirez
A-Rod
Gary Sheffield
Andruw Jones
Chipper Jones
Clemens
Andy Pettite
Posada
Scott Rolen
Albert Puljos
I mean they said All Stars, MVP's, and I'm just going by who has balked up considerably since 1998
Bob Klapisch has already reported that no one on the Mets 40-man is implicated. That leaves me concerned about only Piazza.
It's a sad day for baseball, but honestly, you're a football fan. If the NFL was investigated they'd have to list the players who turned up clean.
Like I said earlier, it's a bad signing because LA doesn't need another outfielder. They should have signed an infielder.
But if they were going to sign an OF, Rowand would have been a smarter move. He'd have likely cost less, and wouldn't come with Jones' risk. Then they could have gone after infield help as well.
Hey, I like Randy Winn. :) I disagree; it was a good move for them, considering what they needed and with Hunter and Jones off the market. Rowand's a solid player, and they needed someone like him. Yeah, their lineup isn't great, but they have good pitching and a pitcher's park.Quote:
Now...the Rowand signing...now THAT was a stupid move. The Giants have the worst lineup in the NL West, and adding a second Randy Winn caliber player isn't going to help them any.
We'll see how it plays out. I'm no fan of Andruw Jones, but he may end up being what the Dodger offense needed....
You know, this rush to sign contracts for Petitte and Jones makes a lot of sense now, they want to be under contract so they can utilize the assistance of the player's union.
