IT'S MURRRRRRRRRRDAAAAAAAAAA
I had a mini-tournament this past weekend and I was on fire. I don't know why but if I play way too intensely I start losing. If I barely care about the match I do well. I guess it's a case of nerves causing me to make foolish mistake. I also maybe don't attack as relentlessly, which gets me in to a lot of hot spots via counter attacking and traps.
Played some of Razor's friends for a while tonight, was fun.
lol @ the people who clicked on the Team Sp00ky stream and ended up getting Melty Blood money matches. If the timestamp from Pineapple's post is right, that was right when I was getting scraped on stream by a Japanese player. Yay!
Just as a side note about the Melty Blood finals (even though I'm the only one that cares!), it's actually pretty damn happenstance that the Japanese player that came here that won (who is probably one of Japan's top 10 players in the game) and the finalist from America played the same character. She is the best character in the game, but a number of other characters are right up there too; game is pretty damn balanced overall. Nobody complained about NIN blowing out everybody in Tekken 6 or Daigo stomping everyone in SF4 (again). As for what the hell is with the damn maids (comprising half of the final 8 players)... that's another matter. :p
Hey, it got more entrants than MvC2 and TvC!.... :|
I just got back from Evolution myself, and what you saw on the stream was 100x more hype in-person. Even some of the games that were lame as hell got hype -- I guess it goes in hand, really. Marn's Zero in TvC made me want to peel the skin from my body, but seeing that get fucked up made it all the more fun.
BTW, Ricky Ortiz is physically excellent, imo, and we've all been put on notice. Ugh, I would have done a better job commentating than Adam Sessler did (and nearly did end up on stream for the second year in a row, lawl).
Just wait 'til I figure out how to FADC out of SRKs with Adon. Then you're all gonna learn.
ProTip: Hit MP+MK on the first hit of the SRK when you have two bars! (don't fuck up and EX the first SRK, or you'll burn three bars inadvertently if/when they block. EX'ing the second is ok though, if you're feeling saucy).
S.W.A.T. ProTip: This works for nearly every non-grab ground-based attack in the game, normals and short-range projectiles included! Just remember to tap-tap (ur mumz)
LameProTip: Random shit still gunna git'choo keeeeeled (less so if you don't abuse it).
EGM Letters Section: The timing is a lot less strict than you might imagine it to be, if you're screwing it up a lot you're probably hitting the buttons too fast.
edit: just took Adon into training mode for a minute, jaguar knee FADC backdash Ultra 2 is surprisingly easy to pull off.
I'm trying to figure a way to implement Juri's Dive kick similiar to Cammy's Cannon Spike (Strike?) into my game. I think it would work great for when you expect someone to throw but that's an awfully small window and I'm not nearly that good at reading people. I have landed it on a couple of random focus attacks, but I doubt that's something to ever expect haha.
Juri has an actual overhead and her divekick is unsafe as fuck.
Adding on what YellerDog posted, it should be pretty simple to get the focus attack cancel. The hardest part is probably getting the dash down. Make sure you hold down mp+mk until the dash animation comes out, and then let the buttons go during the dash animation so that you don't accidentally negative edge something.
