Uh... there are ranged weapons, and uhm, you can dispense justice.

Later on the game encourages you to work on your weapon combos, so it's not quite so repetitive as it seems at first.

What annoys me is the eating sound effect. I know my sister, who loves these kinds of games, switched from "Ooh, wanna play!" to "Ugh, no thanks!" (not verbatim, by the way) after I fed Deathspank a few drumsticks.
