IIRC it's more due to the slumping worldwide economy, not a change in culture.
What I find crazy is that 50 - 60 only accounts for 20% of their arcades, and thats just from 1 company. How many fucking arcades are there in Japan. I would be surprised if theres 100 - 200 arcades total through out the entire US right now.
