There was a video a while ago (thought I posted it here, but I guess not) of some guy who compiled a video of bunch of people playing through the first stage of Gradius, with all the runs compiled into one. It was cool to see.
This is the same idea, but using a really difficult Super Mario World romhack. The execution is way smoother, too.
This was done by making an altered version of snes9x for OSX, and might work with any game. I haven't been able to try it out, myself.

is the TM one done by the same guy that did the Crysis barrel one? the one where at the end he has to turn away from the blast because it locks up his rig.

That Trackmania thing is still the best game video ever. Probably.
edit: I liked the Mario video too. I'm not entirely sure how something like that was put together without having a pre-defined camera path. Do those hacked Mario games support ghost data?
