I have procured Suikoden II, now I debate as to which one I want to play more. Also I wish the weather had been so bad that I was forced to take off work today so I could be playing.
I had never heard of Suikoden until I got Suikoden III as well. I just felt like mentioning that.

Playing Through Suikoden II, and I'm confused. I know if someone died in battle in the first one they were gone, does that still apply? I ask because it's a wierd situation.
The battle before Muse is lost, I killed what's his face but at the same time he joined my team, and then died in battle. Also Flik died but I have a feeling that doesn't stand :P. But have I lost the ability to get him? because if I have I'm gonna be pissed :(. ALSO FUCK YOU JOWY! :(

If I recall correctly only *some* characters die forever. But I do remember having to reset because someone who dies forever died in battle more than once

He said fall back when I defeated him so I assume he's ok.

Has any one heard about a part VI? They can't stop now.

I thought I heard it was in the works
For the Wii.

I should probably get back to Suikoden II. But damn..

I gave this game around 3-4 runthroughs and I think it's the best Suikoden game on the PS2 so far (3 comes close, 4 just doesn't cut it). I like how it reminded me of Suikoden 2, and the story and characters were pretty good too. I really enjoyed the english dubbing too, probably one of the best I've heard so far.

For me:
Five = three > two > one >>>>>>>> four
four is the only one I never finished. Three was the first one where I was able to get EVERYONE without Gamefaqs. The Suikoden V players guide is REALLY well done and is great just as an art book.
What I liked about Suikoden III was that my data from I and II affected the game. Not in MAJOR ways (you get more plays) but it was still a nice touch. IV is just not any fun at all. All the fun of sailing on a ship for hours and hours, and you can only play as FOUR PEOPLE at once. Suikoden V is probably my favorite and I would not mind playing it again and being nicer to the kid sister in order to get a better ending.
VI would probably get me to buy whatever current-gen system it shows up on.
I avoided Suikoden Tactics because it is based around IV's scenario :(
