Well I'll be getting a job relatively quickly, at least a retail job or something. I actually look forward to retail for a little bit, gives me a good chance to meet people and get use to kind of how a new area is. But I'll be looking for a real job (I already have been) the whole time too and am confident I'll find something. Even if it's some contract work which I really wouldn't mind.
Just keep in mind in the retail world, full time is now 30 hours, not 40. So you may be getting two jobs for double the fun.Quote:

I've been unemployed for close to 4 months now and I've managed to only spend $1500 of my savings / redundancy package so far. I'm completely debt free and have about $7000 saved away, and I've cut my spending habits waaaaay down, so I'm in no rush to find a job. I'm taking my time looking for a job I'd actually like rather than diving into the first job i could get, which may take a while in this job market. I'm also considering going to film school next year, as its something i think I'd enjoy and I have a few connections in the industry.

You should have enough money to live for 6 months if you're axed. That's the min, i recommend a year.
So if you make 40k a year and lift comfortably, by age 30 you should have 40k in savings. Don't cry, you can do it.

That's a ridiculously high number.
I have spent maybe $2000 in a year. That's high estimating.
