Component Video Switching, and My TV

I have a Toshiba 20" FST Pure TV; which features 3 A/V inputs (1 S-Video and 1 Component input.)

My Xbox is hooked up to the Component input, while all my other systems are using the S-Video input via a MadCatz S-Video switch box.

Do you think it's worth buying a Component video switcher so my PS2 and GameCube can take advantage of this input? Here is the Component switcher I'm looking at - http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=jvcjxs111

JVC component switch is GREAT. I've been using it for the last 6 months, and it works perfectly. It has 3 Component inputs, which can be used to connect all 3 of the current systems to it, plus 2 S-video inputs as well.

I have my PS2, Cube and Xbox connected to it via component cables, and my Toshiba DVD player with Svideo, and picture qualit is great and there are no signal loss or distortion.

Its definately a good deal, so get it.

How much did you purchase yours for? :)

I got mine on Ebay for $80, and it was a great deal at that time. But later I seen prices as low as $70.

Does the JVC switcher come with component cables to output to your TV?

On another TV we have, I used normal RCA cables for the component output from our RCA DVD player and it works perfectly.

*Added - Is Nintendo's online store the only place that you can get GameCube Component cables?

Well, I dont know if the brand new one from store comes with set of component cables, since I bought mine used, but I doubt that it does.

I had a set of cables for my PS2, and another one that I was using before, and I had to order set for Cube from Nintendo web site, since its not being carried anywhere else. And also got Advanced AV pack for Xbox.

I have the High Definition Pack for Xbox. Have you noticed that during games there are very slight wavy bars that go down the screen? It doesn't do it during DVD movies, but when I'm in the Xbox dashboard or playing a game, I can see the bars going down the screen. It's very subtle, but I can see them.

Do you see these lines as well?

Yes, as far as I know you have to get them through Nintendo. That's where I got mine.

What's the advantage of using "Component Cables" instead of using standard RCA cables, for example, from a DVD player's component outs to your TV? (Shielding?)

Currently we have one of our DVD players using RCA cables from the component outputs, without any problems?

Component cables provide an improved image quality compared to standard RCA cables. Basically, the standard video connection options in the US (from best to worst) go like this:
1)Component
2)S Video
3)RCA cables
4)RF adaptor

I would hook up everything you can via component that supports it, since your TV is wired for it.
