Playing imports on DC?

It's something I have yet to experience. Rez, Shenmue II (Euro release), and possibly Ikaruga someday are games that I really want to play. I know the boot disc is the easiest and cheapest solution here, but what about a multi-disc game such as Shenmue II? If not, I guess I'll have to ship my console off to NCS and get it modded. However, I won't even bother if it's impossible to play PAL Shenmue II on my NTSC TV. I have no idea how that would work, unless there's an option in the game to set the video output to 60hz. I need some advice, here. Any reccomendations for import titles are also greatly welcome.

Multi-disc games are not a problem. You can use a boot disc.

I have Shenmue 2 and CvsSnk2 and I use a utopia boot disk. Both work fine, I had to reload Shenmue of few times, though. I think I have the Euro Shenmue 2, but I don't remember changing the hz...how do you do that anyways?

I just used the boot disk for Shenmue II (PAL).

Okay, I checked some online game stores and according to Videogamedepot.com, the game will work fine on my TV. Now the new question I have... which import boot disc would you guys reccomend? There's some Cheats & Codes disc that apparently doubles as an import booter, and it's really cheap, but if the others out there (Utopia, DC-X, etc.) are more reliable, I'd rather use one of those.

The game would'nt have subtitles, if it was the Japanese version of Shenmue 2. Some European games, have an option in the menu screen, to switch from 50hz, to 60 hz, so I've heard from UK gamers. The game operates at 60hz on the US DC and boots fine, with a gameshark lite, also.

I have DC-X, Utopia, and Innovation Super Game Converter. They all work fine except I prefer DC-X since it's the only one I can get games to work through VGA. Although I couldn't get Shenmue 2 in VGA unfortunately even though the game does support it.

Neozeed, ask around as I'm positive there's a way to play Shemnue 2 in VGA on a NTSC set.

I have a Gameshark which is very reliable but a pain too since you need to use a VMU space with it.

Question: is utopia a freeware boot disk? Or is it retail? *-neo

All I can say is: Pelican codebreaker. I've tried DC-X, Utopia and Dreampass, and this is by far the most reliable product I've used, despite coming from a company that usually puts out junk.

It's basically a Gameshark (it's even compatible with Gameshark codes) for a third of the price, doesn't take up any VMU space, works with Euro and Japanese games, and you don't have to reboot multi-disc games.

And btw - you HAVE to play Shenmue II all the way through. You haven't lived yet.

Game Sharks work as well.
