Actually, no. I never did. Anyways, I was mainly referring to single player style games that actually had a story revolving around the time period.

It's got a lot of really horrible design flaws. A.I that knows exactly what window you're in without firing a shot. Enemies snipeing with a mp 40 from three hundred yards away. Brain dead A.I, I shot a guy in the ass until he died without him turning around. And some stuff that just bugged the shit out of me. Like the ability to pick GERMAN guns before dropping, WTF is that about? It's a pretty game, and you can get it for twenty dollars like everywhere now. I actually liked hour of victory better, which wasn't too hot either.
The story modes in most of these games are more less identicle. But I always enjoy them, and to be honest I pretty much never play the single player in shooters anyway. I have yet to beat Halo 3's or CoD4's single players, and I've played CoD4 for over thirty hours. It's just not why I play shooters.Quote:

If they made a new version of 1942 with updated graphics and some tweaks I would be over that like white on rice. Thank fully Bad company is pretty awesome, so that will work.
Yeah... single player just really isn't necessary.
Whatever, Truong! I'm all about single-player/co-op campaign experiences. I play multiplayer every now and then, but it's really not my thing.
A little off-topic: did anyone see screwattack.com's list of top ten first-person shooters of all time? I know it's another stupid list, but this one is just nuts:
10. BioShock
9. Doom 3
8. Half-Life 2
7. Duke Nukem
6. Counter-Strike
5. Quake
4. Wolfenstein 3D
3. Call of Duty 4
2. Halo
1. GOLDENEYE!!! <-- What the fuck?!
I pretty much just bought COD4 because I was expecting an amazing campaign. Meh. Not a fan of pattern-based gameplay outside of arcade games. If you don't have a bunch of friends to play with or don't use multiplayer as a competitive outlet the way I do I could see how single player is more appealing though, since the players are what make the game in multiplayer.
Golden eye has aged about as well as boxed wine. Also the real what the fuck is Halo beating Call of Duty 4, and Wolfenstein 3-D above counterstrike is lols.
Halo >>> Call of Duty 4. That's if you have game though. COD4 is definitely easier to pick up and enjoy.
Also, Duke Nukem isn't an FPS. That site is pretty much on my ignore list now.
I like Halo and all, but It doesn't compare to Call of Duty 4.
Well, first off it's Halo: CE.
While I still think COD4 is a good game, as far as the core gameplay it's just too easy imo. Meaning, I don't really get a rewarding feeling after getting kills because for the most part it's just about positioning and whoever sees the other guy first. COD4 is just fun for me because I have a bunch of friends irl that are all good at the game (probably because it is so easy to pick up) and we rock faces. Sabotage, S&D, and Domination would be fun if there was decent competition outside of clan matches/ladders though.
