I've been skydiving. I was too young to go tandem, so instead you can take a day-long class and go individually (figure that one out). Since it was my first time and I was going by myself, we didn't get as high as you can in tandem...so there wasn't a lot of free-fall time, which seems to me the only real fun in the experience. It was pretty much: jump out of plane, get flipped around by the wind, and pull the cord before you've even righted yourself.
I get motion sick on roller coasters and from other people driving cars. The ride in the tiny plane and the constant dipping from steering the parachute (you pull down a corner and cause the parachute to swerve to steer...whipping you around like a freefall pendulum) pushed me to the edge...I was pretty much holding back my barf the whole descent and let it loose upon landing. I had a speaker in my helmet where the crew could direct me after the parachute (so you land in the right spot and not some pond), but I was pretty much "fuck you! -leave me alone!" because the swaying was so awful.
My mother, who also went (and also gets motion sick) decided it wasn't worth holding in and just barfed on her way down.
Needless to say, it wasn't a great experience and I haven't been since. Tandem looks like a smarter way to start.
It's pretty much one of those things I know I'll start doing eventually even with my massive fear of heights (Because I also love heights). I just haven't found a place nearby to do it.
