Although extremely safe and classic, I can't do steak with anything other than merlot. Perhaps the occasional pinot noir/cabarnet, but always merlot by choice.

If you're just starting out with wine, I recommend Jacob's Creek Riesling, 2005 or 2007 vintage (if you can get it over there). It's cheap, fruity and very, very easy to drink. Great with white sauce pastas or fish.

I'm like arjue - I buy australian wine almost exclusively, and it's generally fantastic. I've also had some really great stuff out of California, but I forget the name now - I'll check when I get home.
Wine is awesome.
I prefer the buzz of wine to damn near any other substance imaginable. Nice and mellow. It's good stuff. :D
I went to a wine bar in town and had a glass of Four Vines Old Vine Cuvee Zinfandel. Now that was a good glass of red.
I prefer a dark beer over wine, but wine wins out over liquor or frat beer.
I drink whats in front of me, if its red. I don't pretend to know shit about it though.
Who drinks hard liquor with food?
