sonic cd

I am not a huge Sonic fan myself. But I do own all the Genesis ones, SonicCD, Sonic and Knuckles, and Sonic Adventure 1. I have never played Chaotix so I can't comment on it. But of all the Genesis Sonic games I still fell that Sonic 1 is the best Sonic. All the others are just WAY to cluttered up. The level design makes little sense half the time. SonicCD is by far the most jumbled Sonic I have ever played. They could have made the game a lot better if they did not try to cram as many platforms and loops into the level as humanly possiable, and just make it clean and naturaly difficult. Sonic 1 IMO has a nicer level design and is more enjoyable then the others. I don't hate the other Sonic games, they are just not as fun as the First.

Plenty. Totally changes the feel of the game IMO.

BTW, all the "Past" music in the US version are really weaksauce remixes of the "Present" music in the JP version.

Don't get me wrong, I love old Sonic 1 (it was my initial reason for buying a Genesis back in yon olden days), but I thought the spin dash introduced in Sonic 2 was a definite improvement on the first.
I do agree that the levels in Sonic CD are the most confusing when it comes to finding all the secrets, but I always liked how the Sonic games(including the first) had those large levels with multiple paths and secret rooms to find. It's what made Sonic fun( besides SPEED!!!).

The past music is the same in both versions, becuase it isn't Redbook CD audio. They only changed the recorded track. All the stuff done on the FM chip (namely, all the past music) is the same in both.

All this talk about cluttered levels,..
Once you get good at the game there is really no problem, because you know where to go and how fast you can be moving at a particular section.

I'm not a fan of Sonic2 or 3, so that may explain my tilt toward SonicCD. SonicCD was; and is, the true Sonic sequel.
