Ok, it was an early Playstation fighting game, and it featured robots. I can't remember if it was a good game or sucked, I only rented it one or two times. I think a sequal was made that didn't make it over here. I sorta remember one player being a big white dragon robot. Well?
Was it Zero Divide?

I recall it being praised as a pretty good virtua fighter knock-off, only you had the ability to hang on to the edge of the fighting platform and jump back in to avoid a ring out. Never played it, though. Of course this praise came from Gamefan, so I don't know what to think because they praised pretty much everything at the time.
I thought it was very cool, and enjoyed it many years ago when I rented it as well.
But whether it was actually good or not, I can't really say. I don't remember how it played. Maybe I just liked it 'cause I like robots and fighters, heh...

Its early PSX 3d fighting game, with bunch of various mech duking it out VF style :)
I liked the game, graphics were pretty good at that time, it controlled well, there were many different character models to choose from, some are very unusual for fighting game, like Spider/Scorpion bot, or Godzilla like one.
Fighting system was ok, and I liked the idea of being able to hang on the edge when you had a ring out, and being able to pull yourself back into fight. Made the Ring outs less cheap than they usually are.
Aurora had a thread about this game, couple weeks ago.
And I never played the sequel.
