Way more than that. The Lobbyists are the ones who write the bills most of the time nowaday.

Pretty much. If there is a law regulating, say, the manufacturing of toys, you can bet Hasbro wrote the law themselves, handed it to Congressman X, and had it turned into a law "written" by Congressman X.Quote:

Well, there is no way any Congressman can become an expert on every single thing he or she needs to vote on. It's simply impossible. That's why they have a staff.
The problem is that the staff is usually made up of cronies from industry. That or staffers put in a few years and then join... lobbying groups.
The revolving door is a huge problem and the rules are a joke.
What about the committees? What's your excuse on why those guys aren't experts?
And why the Hell is the budget committee flagrantly partisan??
