I've never played Archon on the NES, Neo, but I've played both the NES and C-64 versions of M.U.L.E. I'd noticed a few cosmetic differences between the two versions, mostly the mule.
Looking at the NES port of M.U.L.E. again, it differs from the original more than I remembered (and the characters lost some charm).
I have never played M.U.L.E. so it would be unfair to vote. But I did like Archon alot back in the day.
M.U.L.E.'s box art is wonderful.
