Christopher Handley has been accused of buying manga books of an obsene nature from japan. The trial will start sometime in February.

personally, I think this is BS. A man shouldn't face 20 years in jail for owning gay porn, even if it is something as silly as Yaoi
Utter bullshit. Lawywers are debating the ages of cartoon characters? At what point to the laws stop trying to protect people and just become a witch hunt?
This is a really ridiculous case, but equally ridiculous is Yaoi, so I'm torn....
This seems to me like on the same level as prosecuting owning a Hostel DVD as some kind of snuff film. Except I don't even think snuff films are illegal.

Even if it was a manga about molesting little boys, I don't see what harm it does to anyone that this guy wants to beat off to it.
You'd think it'd keep him from beating off on little boys in public. If you'd ask me, this manga is a great service to the public!
I don't agree with legislating morality. Mainly because none of us can agree on a sensible morality. Some people think its wrong to eat beef. Others think it is wrong to have sex, while married, on your side (or enjoy it).
We can however agree on what hurts people, most of the time. So, imo, the government should only make laws for the protection of people.
This case is BS. Not only should it NOT be illegal to do what they are accusing him of, it isn't even what those books are about. They are about two gay men. He is being accused of having child porn because they have no pubes. They have no pubes because that is illegal in japan. They find it to be obscene (oddly only in porn and cartoons, poor bbobb).
Well, to look at the flip side, it is pretty common to have the characters in the japanese porns being middle school/high school age, so technically I'm sure some of his porn's did depict minors having sex.
BUT, there's no reason that should be illegal... fucking hell, it's a comic book, who cares.
