I have never stolen anything that was of great value or that I truly needed. I was in Japan at a game store and there was this styrofoam playstation sign that was small enough to fit under my shirt. No one was looking and I was in a foreign country so no harm no foul. There is a thrill to stealing even if it's small.

I worked for an electronics store with a friend back then and expressed interest in a 1st gen MP3 cd player, which was awesome at the time because decent MP3 players weren't invented yet and I had spent enough time on old Napster to think 140 playable songs on disc instead of 12 was a great idea.
My friend, who recently bought a fridge from there with $1500 of extra goods stuffed inside the box that I knowingly rang up for him the week before, asked me to borrow the high-priced glass case keys, which I gave and he promptly jacked the player and stuffed it in an extra balled-up uniform.
Little to our knowledge another shifty coworker watched this happen. We called him PDA as this guy and his girlfriend worked together with us and they would spend half the day making out in the aisles when customers weren't around. The whole "public display of affection" bullshit any suburban wanker 15-17 feels compelled to do. This was before Interpol's song dropped and took the acronym. 9/10 of the time this guy didn't give a shit about other people's business, but for whatever reason, PDA ratted my friend out for pocketing the disc player.
Managers pull all of us to different rooms to do the interrogation bullshit the next day and both of us played dumb enough to it that the store decided to do more investigation with the district's dedicated loss prevention guy who wouldn't show up for a few days, so nothing bad would happen to anybody yet.
Two days after, PDA walks in to pick up his girlfriend from work and chats with the assistant manager who asks about the personal Palm Pilot hanging off his belt swivel clip thing. PDA shows it to him and the manager secretly jots down the serial number, which ended up matching with one of the numbers on a batch of Palms that went missing the week before.
PDA was arrested the next day during his shift, charged with shoplifting the Palm and the disc player, and got a year in jail. His girlfriend dumped him the next month. My friend and I were cleared of all the drama, and I got to keep the shiny $200 portable disc player that would go obsolete to the iPod a year or so later..
Sooo...uh...PDA was jailed for jackin' a PDA. Har har har
the k-mart we had turned into an 8 screen cineplex (which I think also has a digital projector now) so it was a win-win for usQuote:

I also did the dole trick at orange julius, because I hated my boss. I made soooo much money but always felt bad about it. I guess stealing is just not for me. I never stole from babbages/gamestop though, even when it was painfully possible. PAINFULLY so. (Plus I knew josh didn't give a shit)

A friend of mine once got pulled over and was quickly surrounded by cops with their guns drawn and he got cuffed and arrested because his vehicle matched the description of a recent bank robbery. He was able to get out of it quick because he happened to be a good friend of one of the police officers but it's still pretty crazy.Quote:
