Yeah yeah, I've seen the comments about what was said for Prime. I was a bit apprehensive of Prime until I saw developer comments that exploration would be a focus. I also understand that Metroid games contain a lot of action. Thing is, that's quite a lot of games. Not as many games nail the enjoyment of exploration.
Metroid hangs its hat on that exploration and without it, it fails as a Metroid game. It also gets a lot of what it is from the loneliness, alienation, and the (albeit false) sense of freedom that is created in the games worlds. With talking characters, space stations filled with people, communication of any kind, combat focused on melee and wirefu; one by one the attributes that I really enjoy about Metroid go away, and this becomes just another space shooter. Of course, later revelations on game play could easily change my opinion.
Also, I've never enjoyed anything that's come from Team Ninja. So I'm probably an odd one in my opinions. I'm curious though, is this Team Ninja with Itagaki, or Team Ninja at Tecmo? Did he have the rights to that name? Did he take it with him when he left? I don't really pay much attention to the ugly talentless bastard.
