CGI stands for Computer Generated Imagery. We can all say that something looks like CGI and not be using the term incorrectly. Example: "My, that snake attacking Ice Cube certainly does look like Computer Generated Imagery"
When you say that something sounds like MIDI you're just being ignorant.

Your problem is with the sounds being used. MIDI is a language telling the hardware to play back those shit sounds. Blame the hardware, not the control language. Stop using the word incorrectly. This would be like walking into McDonalds, asking for a bucket of nigger toes, and expecting to get a large vanilla milkshake. I mean, its not that stupid I guess... but its still some dumb shit.

Didn't Strong Bad do pretty well on WiiWare? I thought I read something to the effect that Telltale was rather pleased with the performance, although I forget where.

Also, I understand there being a framerate issue with Monkey Island due to download limitations, but there was no excuse for the Wii version of Sam and Max to hiccup like it did. Quick, dirty, and lazy.

Well, no it's a little more than that. That language makes it difficult to articulate certain things that are usually tells even when the samples themselves are good. The format DOES have some real limitations, and while you might be able to fudge your way around them with really complex sets of samples, that's A) cumbersome to do and B) impossible when we're talking about stuff optimized for a low perfomance console with no storage.

It's like... if I take a MIDI format file from an old game (Let's say Space Quest IV, since that used MIDI), and I stick the best samples in the world in it, it's still going to sound artificial. While you might be able to make it sound fairly real by completely re-writing the song for a larger set of samples representing every way a note could be played, you're basically starting over. So that's the issue here. Telltale got fucked by the lowest common denominator, and even though they're using better "sounds" as you put it, you can still tell there's something off.

How should I have said this? The Wii version is using MIDI format music played in realtime on the Wii sound hardware, while the PC version is using waveform music based on the same MIDI format compositions rendered with higher quality samples, but still showing vestiges of the limited format for which it was composed. THERE, HAPPY?

Well Sam & Max was also ported after the fact, and never meant with multiplatform in mind, so that can certainly make life more difficult.

So what's the correct term to encompass music created and or played back by a MIDI device if I can't say "MIDI music?" Just so we don't have this issue again.

And I still don't know what the hell is wrong with "MIDI render." That's the actual word for it.
