DIY game posters

So I came across this thread on another board where the users have been taking covers and concepts from older games and cleaning them up to get them up to the very high resolutions needed for large prints. Getting custom prints is pretty cheap, and if the source is good, they come out looking great. It's a great idea and the examples in the thread are pretty enticing.

I was wondering if anyone here has tried this, and if we could put our heads together and come up with some posters to cater to TNL's more particular tastes.

To start off, I tried to do something with the Japanese Fantasy Zone box art. I couldn't find a really high res scan, and I'm not as skilled in cleanup as the guys in the other thread, but I think I got it to where it's suitable for a 15x20. EDIT: Redid the FZ posters extensively, got it looking real nice now, even cleaned up some damage on the original picture.

Ideas/thoughts/contributions?

i saw this layer section artwork in a decent resolution a while ago...

The main problem is finding high quality scans. There's a lot of stuff I'd love to have prints of.

As a test run I ordered a print of some Machinarium art and the Fantasy Zone thing. I will report if the results are good.

Of all the projects I've seen started on this board, this is the one I hope really takes off. I'd love to have some awesome, clean art to hang on the wall, and maybe even for my arcade sticks.

I bet I could do something with that Progear flyer. It'd take some work to get rid of the text and I think getting rid of the screenshots is out of my skill level without an alternate clean version but it could still make a good poster.

Alright, after more futzing around, I got some pretty good results with a piece of Reiko Kodama artwork from Phantasy Star 1. Should be good for 15x20 at 200 dpi. EDIT: Ok, got it up to 4500x6000, good enough for larger prints, and tightened it up a lot.

EDIT2: Fixed it up even more, 30% clearer for those who want to stare at their poster from an inch away.
