I believe they both did. I remember for a fact that Mother 3 did.
The GBA build that was on Dr. Mario & Puzzle League was pretty solid (Just very barebones) and the GBC build (Pokemon Puzzle Challange) was probably the best portable versions of Panel de Pon.
Maybe you're thinking of Tetris Attack that was on the original Gameboy? It was kind of clunky and ugly...
Poker Smash isn't online? Lame.
I'm just not a fan of Poker Smash at all. They added too many new rules and I hate the controls. Panel de Pon is already perfect as it was on the SNES. It doesn't need tweeking.
Speaking of game lists, the top 200 of all time on GI was so fucking bad.
Borderlands? GTA 3 over the other GTAs (don't worry, they were all listed in later on, even VC ugh) because it was the first of the 3d ones that helped start it all, but Rock Band 2 over Rock Band? Get your shit criteria straight. Pick the best of a very, very similar series like GTA and don't clutter it up with every game from that same series padding the 200.
Bleah. Covers were cool at least.
Of Course Poker Smash Is Online For Chrissakes It's A Live Game
Poker Smash is online, but having the original with touch screen controls and online is much better. I can still find matches of PPL online as well, as opposed to Poker Smash, which is unfortunately dead as fuck.
Old school TA is still great, but oce you go to PPL, the old games feel sooo sllooooww.
I don't want to derail this thread into a Panel de Pon discussion, but the touch controls are what I hate about PPL. Being able to fly all over the grid and swap titles so quickly completely kills the game for me and changes it's flow. I use to play PdP religiously and, with other people that were also good at it, the game was always intense. But, hey, I'm glad you're enjoying PPL. :)
A little off topic, but about puzzle fighter. I recently had dinner with a group of friends I was introduced to through my wife's work. They play Halo, Rock Band, are internet nerds like myself. Somehow an offhanded comment about Puzzle Fighter came up. Everybody was like, well Chris, nobody likes to play you because you're too good, it's no fun. I love a challenge and had not played it in a bit. I proceeded to THRASH him. It was good.
HAHA , I've had that happen with Tetris Attack ! Also old Street Fighters and Tekken. One of my best friends became such because he was talkin shit about how good he was at Street Fighter. Before playing Street Fighter, I thought he was an annoying, loud fuck. Afterwards, he was an annoying loud fuck that is still a best friend to this day.
