Mad Max: Fury Road

He's too crazy.

I wish it was Mel too, but he's clearly spent too long in the wasteland baking away.

Hardy is a proper badass (BRONSON), I wouldn't want Mel in his place at this point.

Mad Max has been kind of a no-show in pop culture after Thunderdome in 86, unlike other 80s movies like Robocop, Tron, Aliens etc. For a lot of people born in the 90s or later, at best, they've heard of Mad Max, but haven't watched the series. At worst, they've looked at Fallout, Book of Eli, Fist of the North Star, etc. as original concepts.

That's a good question, considering general audiences tend to not pay attention to most summer season movies if it isn't a well-known franchise, or an MCU entry.

Warning: Shows a lot of batshit crazy action. Might want to avoid if you got enough of a taste from the first trailer.
