It's not a reboot. This one takes place after Thunderdome.

I don't get why though, might as well just call it a reboot.
Did they reboot Bond every time a new actor played him?
It's been YEARS since Mad Max was given another movie though and the Bond movies kind of get away with that by having them designate the name 007/James Bond to a different agent.
I dunno though, maybe it's just me but I think just making it an outright reboot makes more sense. If he wanted a sequel then he should have just hired Mel Gibson again and do old man Max and get a dialect coach to reteach him how to use his Australian accent.
Wait, are you saying that you think that the different actors who have played Bond over the years are supposed to be altogether different men assigned the 007/Bond identity? I don't believe that at all. There have been many references in the movies throughout the years that they're all supposed to be the same guy, regardless of the actor. For example, there was a Roger Moore movie (For Your Eyes Only) where he's visiting the grave of his dead wife who was killed in the George Lazenby movie (On Her Majesty's Secret Service). Same guy, different actor, IMO.
I think it's great that it's a sequel and not a reboot. It's been so long since the last one that it feels like a reboot anyway. The trailer looks great, and I like Hardy as Max. This one looks awesome.
I can't help but feel it is a reboot (there's nothing wrong with that). The bad guy wears a mask, there's another dude strapped to a vehicle's grill, he has a pale white dude at the top of his command and Mad Max is again driving a tanker across the desert. I see the trailer and it reminds me very much of The Road Warrior. Google search comes up with several different results, but most seem to point to this story happening between Mad Max and The Road Warrior, not after Thunderdome. There's even a quick shot of Mad Max's Interceptor engine revving up the supercharger, even though he had lost the car in Thunderdome.
Even if it takes place before Thunderdome and after the others, it's still not a reboot. Either way I don't give a fuck. I don't have enough of an attachment to the movies to care if it is a reboot.
